Many of the individuals we serve are experiencing homelessness and may also be navigating mental health struggles or substance use. It's important to approach each interaction with empathy and respect for their circumstances.

While we ask for this level of consideration from our volunteers, we also prioritize the safety of our staff, volunteers, and guests. We have contracted a security company to help manage and deescalate any situations that may arise, ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

We encourage volunteers to share their experiences on social media to help raise awareness and support for our cause. However, we ask that you always seek permission before taking photos with clients to respect their privacy and dignity.

Your commitment and compassion can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve. Thank you for your dedication to helping our community.

Program: SALT Outreach - Orlando Drop-in Center

Join us at SALT where we focus on serving our guests that are experiencing homelessness with our comprehensive mobile drop-in center. Our mission relies heavily on ensuring our facilities run smoothly, which often requires fixing or installing essential items. That's where our handy-heroes step in! Whether you're building racks for donations, adding hooks to trailers, or installing ADA grab bars, your skills are invaluable to us.

If you have the expertise, consider signing up and becoming one of our heroes! Shifts will be scheduled based on current needs and new projects are listed below.

While our selection of tools is somewhat limited, you are welcome to bring your own tools if you have them available. During your orientation, you will receive a volunteer badge to wear during your shift. Please remember to return this badge at the end of your volunteer shift.

For your safety and comfort, we strongly encourage the following attire for volunteering:

Tops: Plain T-shirts or non-offensive graphics, made from breathable fabrics.Bottoms: Shorts (knee-length or above) or pants (khakis, cargos, sweats, scrubs, jeans), in loose, breathable fabrics.Shoes: Closed-toe shoes or sneakers.Jewelry: Please limit or conceal large chains, avoid large hoop earrings, and excessive rings (especially if you'll be wearing gloves).

Thank you for considering volunteering with SALT!
