To schedule a volunteer shift, please click 'Respond,' found at the top right of the page, or scroll below to browse our available shifts. While our shifts are listed as 4 hours each, we are flexible if you would like to do more or less than what is listed. Please let us know in the notes of your response if that is the case or if you will be arriving at a different time so we can accommodate your check-in.
On average we give 80 showers per day to our Homebound friends. In this role you will help with the operations of our shower trailer. You will be assisting with disinfecting each stall after usage and also guiding each friend to their designated stall! After folks sign up for showers, they are put on a pending list where the Registration Windows will call them on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are four shower stalls, an indoor shower for those with disabilities, mobility issues, or families, and four chairs underneath the canopy as the waiting area. Clients are sent here after they are called and have checked-in with Registration Window 3. The shower station includes ensuring that our clients have a clean restroom to rest for a moment and bathe themselves with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash being provided in the stall dispensers.
Some ways you may be asked to assist in these operations are:
- Wiping and cleaning the showers/bathroom
- Folding towels
- Ensuring that there is a steady flow of our homebound friends entering the showers
- Communicating with the clothing trailer to make sure that those who are showering have signed up
- Re-stocking shampoos, conditioners, and shower gels in the showers
- Engaging the homebound clients with care and dignity.
